Hi all,

I am still struggling to access a Hayes modem from an XP guest. I have Solaris 10 running on a X2200 with VirtualBox 2.2.2 installed. I have setup a WinXP guest. A Sun Ray 2 is connected to the X2200 box and its serial port is accessible via /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144fb78813/dev/term/a. I can also do

        tip /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.00144fb78813/dev/term/a

and send an ATZ to the modem. It responds with OK. In the virtual box settings for the WinXP guest I have enabled serial port 1 (COM1) and specified the above path. I went into the device manager and made sure that the serial port shows up which it does. WinXP automatically recognized the ELSA 28.8000 modem which makes me thinking that windows must have talked with the modem. All fine so far.

However, if I start HyperTerminal or Kermit and try the "ATZ" thing on COM1 I get nothing. May be I am too stupid to correctly use HyperTerminal, that's why I also tried kermit. But since both approaches did not work for me I suppose that something else is still wrong!?

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

  Andreas
