Nope - it is not a Vista only issue. I ran into the same problem
with a Toshiba XP restore disk. (I have even run into Windows 98
disks that would only install on Compaq computers.) The restore
software is looking for the Toshiba string in the BIOS. If you add
it, you can use the Vista restore disk. I have done it.

The thing you have to remember is that the restore disk in NOT a
general install disk. It is supposed to only be used to restore the
system it came with. The first boot in Virtual Box will require you
to add a bunch of drivers that were not installed by the restore
disk. You are also going to have to give it the key from Toshiba -
it will not work with a general install key. I believe it is an OEM
specific key series.

It has been a while sense I did it, but I believe it is you have to
change DmiBIOSVendor and one other string that I can not remember
right now.
