It's by design.  The VM will allocate all the RAM at startup.  Search
the archives as this subject was brought up one other time, about a
couple of months ago.

btw, I run two VM's.  One has 1.5GB of RAM and the other 768MB.  My
box has 6GB.

Also, make sure to leave some RAM for the Host O/S.  :)
