        This is a "guess", but I have a 10G .vdi with 760M left free. I don't 
know it 
this is the cause, but I suspect that some temporary file expansion during the 
XP update may have exceeded the free space available causing XP to crash in a 
way that caused openSuSE to crash/shutdown as well. I'll pick through the logs 
and see if I can find out more.

        If you have any ideas in the mean time, please let me know...
