Whilst I was running guest WinXP under Virtualbox on my Mandriva PC (which has
the LAN printer), the SO fired up her PC (running Mandriva 2008.1), and found
her PC could not see the LAN printer (which it normally does...), nor could
MCC/Hardware find the printer on the LAN, but there was no problem SSH'ing to my
PC.
(V'Box "Network settings"):
"Adapter 1:
Adapter Type: PCNet-FAST III (Am79C973)
Attached to: Bridged Adapter
Name: eth0"
I had not realised that Mandriva 2009.1 would not be able to 'show' the printer
on the LAN whilst it was running a V'Box session, nor after exiting V'Box.
(Is that true?)
=======
Anyway, after exiting from V'Box on my PC and re-booting the SO's PC, the
latter could once again see the LAN printer., so I escaped a severe
handbagging...
$64 Question: Was there a simpler way of recovering from 'no LAN printer' other
than re-booting the SO's PC after the V'Box session had closed?
