What kind of Ethernet driver uninstall did you do to resolve the problem?
In case this is the Host-Only Ethernet Adapter, could you ensure it has
the lowest priority after VBox is installed, (see
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4670#comment:5 on how to check that),
and if not, move it down the list and see if that solves the problem.
I just installed the latest VBox on Windows Vista and said yes to all
the sun drivers.
I then had to uninstall the Ethernet driver as it completely breaks my
ability to print to my Canon MX850 network printer.
Can you suggest a fix or I'm happy to raise a bug.
