I think I remember Vista's EULA expressly disallowing use in a virtual
machine unless you bought the Business, Enterprise or Ultimate
editions, so that may be your problem.

I did, previously, install Windows 7 Professional in VirtualBox on an
XP Pro host, if it helps...
