Hi all,
I have just installed vbox 3.1.2 on a Solaris 10 host. The virtual
machines (VBoxHeadless) came up fine. No host crashes (that occured
with earlier versions), all looks stable. That is promising!
However, the VirtualBox application to adminster the vbox instances
does not start. I already reinstalled vbox and also rebooted the
machine but the problem persists. I have
root 531 1 0 12:08:46 ? 0:00
/opt/VirtualBox/VBoxZoneAccess
root 6478 4140 0 12:43:00 pts/2 0:00
/opt/VirtualBox/amd64/VirtualBox
root 4242 1 0 12:11:16 pts/2 0:02
/opt/VirtualBox/amd64/VBoxXPCOMIPCD
root 4245 1 0 12:11:16 ? 0:06
/opt/VirtualBox/amd64/VBoxSVC --pipe 14 --auto-shutdown
root 5374 1 0 12:13:57 ? 9:09
/opt/VirtualBox/amd64/VBoxHeadless -startvm Sol_www -p 3389
...
so VBoxSVC is running. After rebooting the machine I can start
VirtualBox once. I then create a new virtual machine and click on the
network tab. This freezes the app! I kill it with Control-C on the
command line and try to restart the app. It does not come up anymore.
No error message on the command line, nothing. It just does not come
up!
I just found another probably related problem. When I do
VBoxManage showvminfo WinXP_tank
I get
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 3.1.2
(C) 2005-2009 Sun Microsystems, Inc.
All rights reserved.
and then nothing. The thing hangs. It's like this thing is trying to
connectto some service and does get no connection!? Doe sit try to
connect to VBoxSVC? Which port is VBoxSVC running on. May be another
process on out machine already uses thi sport!?
Thanks,
Andreas
