Gurus;

To clarify, i have a zpool consisting of 4 x 1 TB in a raidz dedup format, version 22 of zpool.

I wish to import the entire pool into opensolaris (snv_129) running in a virtualbox VM without destroying the pool and the zfs filesystems and data within the pool.

Can it be done safely?

The pool and the VM reside on the same physical host.

Warmest Regards
Steven Sim

Is it possible to "import" the ZFS pool into a virtual box virtual machine running the same OpenSolaris without destroying the pool data?

A zpool is not a single disk which could be used via raw access. A zvol inside a pool could be used as a disk, and potentially you could also attach each disk making up the zpool to a VM and use it from there.

So it is totally unclear to me what you actually want to achieve.

To me it seems the OP just wants to zfs import his pool into his OpenSolaris machine, be it that this one is virtual. So what?
