Hi Rance,

It is not quite clear from your description if you run ubuntu on your host or as a guest. Also what type of network adapter you select for the guest?

I'm running vbox 3.1.4 r57640 as it fixed a networking issue

Ubuntu Live CD 9.10 x86 runs kernel 2.6.31-14-generic and the live cd
gets an ip address no matter what adapter you chose to emulate.

But after you install ubuntu and run updates for the first time you
are now running kernel 2.6.31-19-generic

2.6.31 should be all of the kernel version, so the rest of that is
ubuntu specific

under the 2.6.31-19-generic kernel ubuntu behaves just like it did
under the bug that was in 3.0.12

Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have a workaround?
