Sigh... I'll try this (politely) again. Innotek/Sun seem to have found
useful, otherwise they wouldn't have put this list on their. Further, if
you have a look at (what I presume to be updated soon):

http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Mailing_lists

you will find:
<quote>
    * VirtualBox user discussions list

    This is the right place for end users to discuss VirtualBox,
contribute suggestions, report problems (in particular if you are not
sure whether or not to open a bug report), help others, etc. Please keep
in mind that the list volume might become quite high.

If you look at:
<http://gmane.org/details.php?group=gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.general>
and
<http://gmane.org/details.php?group=gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.devel>

you will find some stats for some spam runs. But that can occur with
_any_ mailing list. Further, there is no indication that those spams
came from gmane.org/nntp or simply a spammer that signed up for the
list. I suppose that I could bother to go back through the archives to
find out... gmane.org allows me to, currently, to go back to:

So the value of using nntp is not just convenient for keeping my email
inbox from being overwhelmed, it also allows me to easily search on
archived subjects, etc. This enables me to first search the list for
answers that may have been previously answered. That way I may not need
to post a question, but instead read a thread where the answer was
already answered first. Perhaps you should actually give it a try before
this list goes away?

You might also have a look at:
http://gmane.org/spam-control.php
http://gmane.org/faq.php
Additionally, gmane.org headers contain:
Archived-At:
<http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.general/<msg#>
to report spam, a user merely goes to the link and report it as spam &
Lars & the gmane.org co. generally will take care of it immediately.
That is considerably better than what tends to happen on many (most)
direct mailing lists. BTW: do you have such a mechanism for your new
sourceforge list? How does one report spam there?
Again, Perhaps you should actually give it a try before this list goes away?

While you're at it, you might consider revising your reply line so that
it doesn't include the email address of the person you are replying to
in it (e.g., "NoOp <nonsnippedemailaddress> wrote:" if you are so
concerned about spam et al.

Anyway, the efforts by you and the others to put up a new list so
quickly _is_ appreciated. No need to reply (to me directly or to this
list), as I figure the subject has pretty well run it's course.
