the only things that i can think of as your problem are: 1. the qmail/users/assign and the corresponding db are non-existant. make sure that both those files have been created. (see the man pages for qmail-pw2u and qmail-newu) 2. bad build: try rebuilding, maybe show you ./comfigure options :) 3. bad download: but you probably would have gotten an error when you unpacked the archive. that's it, brain is dry now, let me know if you have questions.
