Don't get rid of postmaster!!
Instead, change the way qmail handles double bounces. This is covered in the
qmail mailing list.

echo '&doublebounce' >/var/qmail/control/doublebounceto
echo '#' /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-doublebounce

Or, create a bogus mailbox, send double bounces to it, and have it forward
to /dev/null
