i can be wrong, but so far i know the --enable-default-domain switch
is only used for the passwort check procedure. if you don't supply a
domain in the pop3 username  like  "USER chris%yourdomain.com"
but "USER chris"  then the "default-domain" is assumed.

you just have to add  the domain  lostone.com  to the domains
administrated by vpopmail
"# /dir/to/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain lostone.com"

and maybe edit their .qmail-default or add other vpopmail users..
