Any idea why I might be getting these errors with this config option?

What are you using for the "./configure" options? I'm going to take a guess
and say that it has to do with --enable-hardquota. You must use bytes for
the hardquota option. ie. for 5MB limit use --enable-hardquota=5242880 (not
5M - the docs say that you can but it doesn't work).
