Take a look at qmail-ldap, it has most things you want (quota, smtp
auth,...) I'm using it all.

Subject: QMAIL-ISP project
Hello,
I would like to invite the interested persons/developers to join a new
project. It grew up from my frustrations with getting qmail to work
smoothly in a big ISP enviroment and inability to adapt the existing
projects (vpopmail) to my needs.
What are the goals of the project?
1. To have an easly manageable qmail infrastructure for ISP (virtual
domains only)
2. Fast and efficient quota support (both for groups and for users) that is
filesystem and OS independant
3. Ability to store all user information in database backend
4. Cache'ing middleware's to make this as fast as possible
5. smtp auth support
I have the basic project design ready, i have a rather well-thought quota
system and actual code (alpha) and i'm looking for interested developers
that want to work with me on this. I do not need normal users right now,
because there is nothing to use anyway.
If you are interested , then please e-mail me privately. I wil set up a
mailing list shortly and i will subscribe all interested persons there so
we can continue the discussion.
