Verify that your pop3(I assume your are using the qmail pop3?) daemon is using
~vpopmail/bin/vckpw for passwd authentication.

Make sure the local domain is not in the qmail /var/qmail/control/locals file or else
qmail will try to deliver it locally rather than to vpopmail accounts.
