I have a couple of questions with the --enable-roaming-users=y option to
vpopmail. I have compiled vpopmail with the following options:
  --enable-roaming-users=y --enable-tcpserver-file=/etc/tcp.smtp

I know that the tcpserver option is the same as the default, but this file
seems to be related to my trouble and I wanted to declare its position
explicitly.

Unfortunately, I must have something setup improperly because this install
acts as an open relay. I notice when an authorized pop3 user checks his
mail, it does update the ~vpopmail/open-smtp file as well as the
tcp.smtp.cdb file (they get the same time stamp). I have modified the
qmailctl script mentioned by Life With qmail (http://www.lifewithqmail.org)
to rebuild the ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb file rather than the
/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb. My start up script for qmail-pop3d also reflects the
~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb file (using the tcpserver -x option).

my /etc/tcp.smtp file contains currently one line that says:
:deny

I have rebuilt the cdb file and checked it with tcprulescheck and it tells
me that the default action is to deny a connection, but still it acts as an
open relay. I really need to get this matter resolved quickly. I can send
and receive e-mail normally on all virtual domains I have created, but i
have an open relay.....
