-lmysqlclient

And change
! gcc -O2 -I/usr/local/include/mysql
to
! gcc -O2 -I/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql

Now apply the patch.

No more errors :)

ld.so.conf (i assume you mean) doesnt apply here, because the paths are hard
coded in the patch.
