I also typed 'libtoolize --force' and the result is:

So, what does all this mean?
At this point, run aclocal to update the aclocal.m4 file. You should then be able to ./configure && make && make install.
If you don't have automake and autoconf installed, then you could have problems during the build process. If you're going to compile software on that box, you really need to have those tools installed.
