I'm having some problems with qmail-pop3d autentication (it invokes vchkpw).
I have a mysql database on a remote host which keeps all the information
of vpopmail (through vpopmail.mysql file)

qmail-pop3d is responsible for sending the "+OK" after the pass command.

Try a stock qmail (or netqmail) and see if the problem persists.
