I've moved the old 5.5 branch out of the way which had gone stale, and I've
started
a new 5.5 branch. The only patches that will be accepted for the 5.4.x tree
will be
updates to existing code, no new functionality will be accepted.
If you have new features to add, please submit patches for the 5.5.0 branch.
It's under
the SVN repository: branches/v5_5_0
This 5.5 branch will be merged with the trunk once a 5.4.x stable version has
been tagged,
which could be some time. If we don't receive any bug reports in the coming
month, I will
tag 5.4.29 and 5.4.30-rc1. If no further bug reports come in, I will tag
5.4.30-stable
and we'll move on to the 5.5 branch.
Any questions or comments are welcome.
I've already committed some changes for the 5.5 branch. I did away with all
the old M4
build scripts which had been complicating life for every maintainer since their
inception.
My further work on 5.5 will be to clean up much of the existing code base and
try to do
away with repeating code.
Anyway, if you have a moment, and can check out the 5.5 branch, see if it will
configure
and make on your system.
