whole setup is identical to the old one (cause for the rebuild was a dying
root disk). Audio is AC3 and PCM over ALSA via softdevice.

I have a recording made on 2006-05-05 (which was made with version 1.4.0)
and the AC3 sound is pefectly normal when replayed via a FF DVB card
with the AC3 decoder connected to it via optical SPDIF.
