yeah, yeah. ;) but seriously, i do actually think we need more than filters.
right now, the whitespace gobbling "rules" are pretty arbitrary and pointless.
i really do think they should be fixed to not gobble at all. then we can
provide filters to mimic Christoph's gobbling rules, one to mimic current
velocity behavior, a JTidy one, etc. but i digress, this is not the right
thread for this. :)

A very good point. Removing all gobbling is great and adds true WYSIWYG, which is often claimed. That would be by far the cleanest solution. I am +1 with that. Let's get through with the number-stuff. Then I'd like to work on the map-support. The only thing left to do there is to agree on the syntax I guess. After that we could go on with the filter stuff.

drawback in some situations. I'd like to stick to that version until it
gets committed (to the DEV-branch of course) along with the extensions
Will made
(and others to come) and then improve it.

yeah, that might be helpful. not everyone is all that patch-savvy and lazy
people like me are more likely to test/develop if we can just do "cvs update
..." :)

In future I will provide a velocity.jar (via web-reference) along with a patch so that people like you (and me partially ;) can start playing with it.

but of course, if this happens, i think we'd better a handle on the
performance before a release.

Yes of course. BTW, the whole level of agreement starts scaring me ;)
