d'oh! my apologies, nathan, i had forgotten about this. i did not mean to neglect it. however, upon reconsideration, i don't believe there is really a place for this tool among the GenericTools. this is not because of any fault or lack of usefulness in the code, but rather, because commons-lang already provides a utility (which can be directly used as a tool) that does most of what your ClassTool does. http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/lang/api/org/apache/commons/lang/ClassUtils.html so far, it has been a defacto policy to avoid duplicating functionality easily available in commons packages. i have similarly turned down a number of suggestions for a StringTool because of the existence of commons-lang's StringUtils. still, thank you again for the contribution. even just having it and the list discussion about it archived will be a help for people needing these functions.
