If you can figure out a simple way of making this compile without warnings 
in both JDK 1.3/1.4 and JDK 1.5, I'll patch it.  (submit to Bugzilla).

YES, the compilation process is successfull and i think the
velocity-dev.jar works fine (until now untested), i will use this jar
the next days and report if something fails ...
