Ok by me to open this up for discussion. I suggest you post a note on the user list asking for comments. Be sure to offer an option "leave the logo as is", "use this logo", or "suggest other logo".
I'd also be interested hearing why the urge to change (more up to date? more space-effective? just a cool thing to do?).

Hey Will -- I'm posting the link here on the dev list, but might be nice to open the logo idea up for comments/submission from the User list.
I put together a super-simple "angular velocity" diagram logo thingy... tried to post to the official wiki, but the damn thing is a piece of crap. <grin>
So I borrowed a test page out on Atlassian's test wiki. The weird page name is because editing for yours truly isn't working ...they just switched to a new "developer release" this morning, seems there are a few bugs.
I posted two sizes, the larger I think would be great to replace the primary Velocity "dark drop-shadow-oh-that's-soooo-2001 text only" logo. The smaller would possibly replace the "powered by" logo.

If the community wants to use this logo, just like my Velocity Tools "wrench", it's free and I make no copyright claim on it. I also do not guarantee it is original (Well, it might be, I mean I just drew it up myself yesterday with inspiration from this online physics lecture -- "http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Class/circles/U6L1a.html"; ... but I cannot/will not claim that nobody else on the planet has this exact logo and might threaten legal action.)
