Hi,
Lets start a list.
Geir, sorry for saying that: This seems to be the 3rd time or so you come out of nowhere and say "Ok, you're right - now I am back and I will push the project again." I really believe your everyday life is full of work, family time and my gratulations on that: your newborn child. And nobody pushes you to do that (I mean the velocity-thing OF COURSE!)
I (among others) put quite some effort into attempting to get things going again. Writing patches and contributing to the discussion. How would I know that if I'll do it again now it results in development of the product?
You don't.
I'm understand perfectly what you are saying, and understand and sympathize. I'm saying I'm going to once again try to make the time in my life for this, with the intent of growing the active developer community, and that's it. I really, really miss OSS work, and while my professional life has been all consuming, it's time [again] to try for balance.
And how could one not miss the camaraderie, the community of like-minded individuals working towards the same goal, ... ;)
Absolutely nothing personal but I kinda lost my faith that velocity will ever get to life again. :( And I am quite sad about that. And much sader since I like the product, use(d) it heavily and have to manage my own builds and extensions which is absolutely silly!
Well, either it will or it won't.
All I can do to try is to go back and find all the patches I can, and present a list. If there are good suggestions that people are hot about, they'll go to the top of the list :)
I'll be happy to be patch-horse until we get enough momentum to get people aboard.
So then I wait for comments on that damned Numbers-Patch ;)
That's Damned Numbers Patch (tm)
One last question that is on my mind for months now (I asked it a few time very politely and subtle ;) Did you ever consider to hand the project over to another person? I mean that could be a solution.
Yes, I believe that will be how it will evolve.
