neither do they ban it.  that's an argument from silence.  the guidelines
merely indicate that posts should be relevant to the list.

give me a break!  since when is it inappropriate to talk about related open
source projects on user lists?  no man^H^H^Hproject is an island.  i think
posts such as the one in question are not only appropriate but should be
encouraged!  if people are working on open source projects that use Velocity,
then i *want* to hear about it, and i can think of no better place to post
such notices than this list.  synergy.  it's a good thing.

if nothing else, can you at least make an attempt at being constructively
critical and suggest an alternate place where Brad and others can let people
know about related projects?  or do you have something against building
community between related projects?
