   *Responsibilities:*

*Excellent opportunity to join a growing, consultant friendly organization
in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as a Unix Administrator on a contract that is
anticipated to run through the end of 2014, with the possibility of
extension. As a Unix Administrator, you will: Provide advanced system
administration, operational support and problem resolution for a large
complex Unix / Linux computing environment, based primarily on VMware;
Perform computing environment build-outs, site setup, user training,
hardware / software installation, maintenance and support and documentation
of operating procedures and processes; Perform Linux administration
including changes, deletes, disk space management, application
installation, and backups; and troubleshoot hardware and software problems,
take appropriate corrective action and/or interact with IT staff or vendors
in performing complex testing, support, server recovery, and
troubleshooting functions. In addition, the selected candidate will monitor
server performance and capacity; Use and comply with change management
process; Attend meetings as a team representative; Assist in developing and
writing technical documentation for IT policies and procedures for
compliance and regulation; and research and gather technical information
for audit and compliance related matters. You will need to have the ability
to support off-hours and weekend work as needed. *

*Requirements:*














* * 7+ years of experience in Linux systems installation, operations,
administration, and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education
and work experience. * Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems,
shells and standard utilities. * In-depth systems administration knowledge
and skills for RedHat Linux environment. * General working knowledge of
NAS, SAN, networking, and server virtualization, particularly VMware. *
Good knowledge of satellite server to build and patch servers. * Must have
worked in an environment with strict change control requirements. * Grub,
PXE boot, Kickstart; Packages, Yum, rpms; LVM, Boot from SAN, filesystem
configuration. * Experience in Solaris administration is a plus. * Good
consultative, communication, analytical, and judgment skills with the
ability to work effectively with clients, technical staff, consultants and
vendors. * Ability to work well under pressure and within deadlines; open
to on-call and weekends. * Ability to communicate well and perform as part
of a team located in multiple cities. * Good technical writing skills are
important; experience in writing technical documentation for regulatory and
compliance procedures and policies is a plus. * Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science or a related discipline. * Red Hat Certified Engineer
Certifications desired. *

*HEADLINE: Contract Linux/Unix Admin in Dallas/Ft. Worth area with a
minimum 7 yrs. Linux administration; Linux operating systems, shells and
standard utilities; Sys Admin knowledge for RedHat Linux; NAS, SAN,
networking, and server virtualization, particularly VMware. RedHat
Certified Engineer Certification desired. Contract through the end of 2014.*

* They are a strong Unix shop with Red Hat Linux and Solaris, moving more
to Linux, in a virtualized (VMware) environment.Must have some VMware, be
open to production support and working weekends. Because of the nature of
their business they have strong change control guidelines and they want
someone who has worked in this type of environment; you can't change things
when you want, which is why they do a lot of things on weekends. Employees
receive comp time when they work weekends. Should have knowledge of storage
- physical/virtual, NAS, Linux file systems. Must have good knowledge of
satellite server to build and patch servers.*
