*They really only want USC candidate * *Role Responsibilities * Based in Austin, TX the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for making final technical decisions and collaborating with the Software Engineering Team on various items, including designing, building, implementing, and maintaining software features used by Borrowers First employees, members and service providers with the goal to increase quality, reduce risks, reduce maintenance overhead, and/or increase scalability. *RESPONSIBILITIES:* - Provides final technical decisions on projects and ensures implementation meets performance and code quality. - Creates and executes tests to ensure software addresses product, performance, and design requirements. - Interfaces with users and stakeholders in order to determine needs. - Examines and makes recommendations of new technologies and methodologies. - Modifies existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance. - Analyzes information to determine, recommend and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system. - Consults with other departments and functions on project status, proposals and technical issues such as software system design and maintenance. - Analyzes user needs and software requirement to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. - Solid understanding of two or more agile delivery models. - Drive quality through automated testing. - Provides technical guidance, code review, and takes responsibility for end-to-end production. - Additional responsibilities as assigned. *EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE:* - Possession of an undergraduate degree in computer information technology, computer engineering, or related degree. - 6+ years’ experience in software engineering or developing. - Experience building consumer websites. *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**:* - Expert technical knowledge in programming and systems development life cycle. - Knowledge of software development and project management processes. - Advanced knowledge of various technologies, including Java, CSS, JavaScript, Scala, JVM. - Knowledge of core Microsoft.Net technologies. - Expert knowledge of the agile delivery model. - Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision making. - Ability to communicate effectively via multiple channels (verbal, written, etc.) with technical and non-technical staff. - Ability to develop and mentor staff. - Ability to be versatile and handle multiple project and re-prioritizations. - Ability to piece together conclusions and apply rules to produce answers that make sense. - Ability to maintain self-motivation, work independently, and in team environments. - Ability to sit the entire work day viewing a computer monitor. *ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:* - Some evenings and overnight work may be occasionally required for deployments and releases. - This position occasionally works with external vendors and 3rd parties.
