*Web-based Java Application Engineer* *Duration: 3 to 6 months * *GC/USC/GCEAD* *MOI: Phone/Skype or in person if local.* *Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan* This position is responsible for design, development, implementation and support of enterprise, web-based, Java decision support applications. Essential Responsibilities - Responsible for design, documentation, coding, and testing of application code - Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within software development. - Construct, manage, and maintain the team's development environments. - Initiate/drive process improvement and drive adoption of "best practices" across design, construction, test, etc. - Follows approved life cycle methodologies - Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation - Resolve issues in a complex system, e.g., performance, data integrity, security, capacity - Provide input on hardware/capital requirements - Execute the adoption of new development tools - Accountable for multiple subsystems - Accountable for mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced members of the team REQUIRED Skills and Experience - Strong Java skills, including code quality standards - Strong Web Development skills, including Spring and jQuery - Experience with OLAP tools with MDX - Experience with software engineering methodologies including: - use of source control repository - automated builds - check-pointing - unit testing - regression testing - Experience with refactoring. - Experience with Windows and Unix development. - Experience with Agile development and continuous delivery systems - A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
