*Senior-level Mainframe Systems Programmer. *

*Duration: 6 month contract to begin *

The Systems Programmer will be responsible for configuring, maintaining,
and troubleshooting IBM z9 Mainframe, native z/VSE. The successful
candidate will also work with our software Developers and QA team to
support the applications running in the IBM Mainframe environment.



*Responsibilities:*

   - Provide day-to-day system administration support for IBM z9 Mainframe,
   z/VSE Operating System.
   - Configure, test, implement and manage new deployments of Operating
   Systems and Software on the Mainframe; test and evaluate hardware as needed
   - Establish and monitor user accounts; enforce established system and
   security policies, ensure data is only accessed by authorized personnel.
   - Establish and maintain a data backup framework that complies with the
   data retention requirements.
   - Work closely with the Software Development organization to provide
   technical support as well as consulting and guidance
   - Monitor mainframe for performance and maintain system environment
   according to industry “best practices”
   - Install system upgrades, 3rd party vendor products, perform routine
   server maintenance, perform hardware/software diagnostics and maintain
   server software versions

*Required Experience and Skills:*

   - A minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in administering
   IBM z/VSE environments and applications.
   - Proven ability to recommend and install hardware & software solutions
   in support of the z/VSE operating system.
   - Proficiency in system debugging & analysis and hands-on experience
   with z/VSE system upgrades
   - Solid background with installing & maintaining mainframe community of
   products
   - Knowledge and participation in annual Disaster Recovery exercises
   - CICS, JCL, DLM, Data Domain
   - Evaluates, installs, tests, and maintains operating system and third
   party software products.
   - Monitors and tunes I/O subsystems, operating systems, and online
   environments to meet service level agreements.
   - Develops, tests, debugs, maintains and documents system exits, ACS
   routines, automation programs, operating system applications and procedures
   to enhance system functionality and availability.
   - Provides policy level IT standards and procedures to improve quality
   assurance, system operation and performance, to maximize system resource
   utilization. Under limited supervision, formulates/defines specifications
   for complex operating software programming applications or
   modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases
   and utilities from the manufacturer.
   - Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents those programs. Usually
   responsible for applications dealing with the overall operating system,
   such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications
   networks, computer accounting and advanced mathematical/scientific software
   packages.
   - May have responsibility for the evaluation of new and existing
   software products. May assist other systems programmers to effectively
   utilize the system's technical software. Other duties as assigned.
   Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of software
   systems analysis and programming activities.
   - Knowledge of one or more of the following: SMP/E; Operating Systems
   (UNIX,OS390); Product installation (IPCS Swinstall); Assembler; SMS; DSF
   and IBM or UNIX Utilities; HCD (I/O configuration); DMS; ADSM; Performance
   tuning and Capacity Planning; SAS; SMF; Analytical Modeling Statistical
   Analysis; CICS; IMS DC/DB; VTAM/NCP; DB2; HACMP; M204; Midrange Systems:
   VMS; Operating System; UNIX; DCL; Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning;
   General Knowledge of networks, NT, SNA, DECNet, LAT, TCP/IP and Database
   formats; Enterprise Management
