It is possible and there are a couple of prefilled manufacturers
that already have saline in sterile syringes. Lynn

I would guess that a good number of manufacturers would jump on this part of the 2006 JACHO safety goals. Our PICC insertion kit has vials of Lidocaine & preservative free saline. Is it even possible to manufacture these in sterile syringes, i.e. ones that can be thrown out on a sterile field or ones that are prepackaged in the insertion kits? I seem to remember someone telling me that they can't, & I don't remember why. Does it have to do with the preservative free part? If it is not possible to manufacture these, what about sterile labels or tape with Lidocaine or preservative free 0.9% saline already typed on them in the insertions kits?
