Hi group. I have a couple of questions for which I would appreciate some input from you all. I know I will get good info here!!!
1. With the IHI Central Line Bundle: has anyone put this in place in the OR holding area? Our anesthesia folks are wondering how to use the full sterile barriers to put in central lines, while the patients also need an A-line and peripheral IV site(s)....especially the Open Heart patients. They are used to several people putting in lines on one pateint at the same time...
2. Do any of you have a special notice you use when a patient is a Jehovah's Witness? On the chart, in the computer, signs on the door, over the bed ??? We had an incident where a patient was transferred from one of our hospitals to another, and the message that she was a JW did not get relayed. Of course, with a low Hgb, the nurse called the MD on call, who also did not know, and since we do not use a consent for blood (we will soon though!!) and the patient was sedated, the patient got the blood...Any suggestions you could send me would be greatly appreciated!!
