The vast majority of catheter related vein thromboses are clinically
silent, meaning you will not see any signs or symptoms at all. This
tip location was the cause of this thrombosis because of mechanical

4 Fr DL picc inserted 10/31.
pt is about 150 lb.
tip in brachialcephalic; for abx.
picc removed 11/7 -- treatment complete, pt discharged
home.
11/15 ultrasound (outpatient) shows thrombosis from
axillary vein, extended to SC and brachialcephalic.
the arm did not swell up until a few days picc
removal.
question for the group,
why didn't the s/s show up earlier?
