Requires immediate Radiologic intervention--We recently had a patient with a Port complain of similar symptoms and examination revealed a pin size hole allowing a slow leakage of infusates (Chemo was scheduled for the next day!)

HELP!!  I have a patient with a PICC that has been receiving TPN for about 6 weeks but is experiencing some weird things.

 

Complaint # 1--  States she hears and feels a definite popping sound in her chest when she flushes the line with NS.

Complaint#2--  States she feels like her throat gets swollen (like she has a cold) for about 2 hours after flushing the PICC.

 

Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated.
