Title: Re: flushes
Whose "position"? I am not aware of anything from a professional organization on this issue. The INS standards of practice do not specify a syringe size for flushing. The general rule is that a larger syringe will exert less pressure than a smaller one. But this has to be balanced against many other issues. I always refer people to 2 key articles that thoroughly explores this issue;
1.     Hadaway, L.C., Thrombotic and Nonthrombotic Complications: Loss of Patency. Journal of Intravenous Nursing, 1998. 21(5S): p. S143-S160.
1.       Macklin, D., What's physics go to do with it? Journal of Vascular Access Devices, 1999. 4(2): p. 7-13.
