That was my experience with the CADD also. It is a real workhorse, seems to be able to withstand the day to day abuse associated with ambulatory pumps in non-hospitalized patients. Patients were able to understand them, and we had minimal maintenance issues. I wish we were using them here in the hospital as our PCA pump. The ones we have are a nuisance.

Ann - I share your sentiments - I have worked with many pumps over the last fifteen years in home care - I don't have anything terrible to say about any of them, but have found the CADD line to be the most reliable over that time. Others seem to come and go - with associated training headaches! The CADDs work every time and they STAY AROUND, which has immeasurable value to me.

I have said this recently, but will be glad to repeat...

We use the CADD Prizm and LOVE it!  The nurses that don't use it often,
find it easy to follow and use.  So, it is very user friendly, even to
the patients.  We have had no problems with use, except for some routine
maintenance as they age.  We have had these pumps for 5+ years and still
love them.

Besides the pump itself, the company is very good to work with....the
reps are Johnny on the spot if you need something, Clinical Support is
available 24hrs a day and extremely helpful, as is CS.  The pump we use
supports 4 delivery modes.  It also has a download to my PC that I can
check what the patient 'actually' did, vs. what they say they did.  It
has come in handy on occasion.

I could go on and on, but I think you get my drift....you can email me
for any more questions.

We are using the Curlin 4000 - it is ralitively small and "light"
(compared to some)  The nice tihing about it is you can use it for all
therapies - TPN, Pain management, continuous and intermittent.  It is
pretty eays to use.

I currently work for a long-term care company and we are presently
looking for a new PCA pump.  Our old pump is the CADD PCA.  This pump
has been notoriously difficult for the long-term care nurse that
infrequently works with the pump.  I would like feedback from the
experts on which pump is the best.  Please include pros and cons on the
pumps.

Thanks in advance for you time,
