When patients with a VAD of any sort bathe or shower, there is almost
always some moisture accumulation under the dressing even if you have
sealed it well and covered it with a waterproof product. This is
because the site is exposed to increased heat and humidity that
increases perspiration under the dressing. So, while bathing may be
ok, it's a good idea to change the dressing immediately afterward.
