Thought this was interesting since the EJ PICCs were brought up last week...wanted to fwd this to you all on the list serve....
Documentation for EJ PICCs are the same as extremity PICCs. What most dont know is the extend of documentation that is required for PICC placement.
This is a high risk procedure,
so competencies are required. Check your state board, our nurses need ACLS/PALS in addition to EJ practice.
The procedure also requires didactic requirements of A/P, insertion/maintenance, and complication management. You will need to have policies in place for this practice as well.
