Yes, sample both lumens, and draw a set from a peripheral
vein. Line contamination versus primary blood stream infection
can be determined by measuring differential time to positivity of the
cultures. If the line comes up positive 2 or more hours before the
peripheral culture, then you have a catheter related blood stream
infection. Unless both lumens are sampled, you could miss
this.
