No studies have defined such a point to my knowledge. You would
combine the information about size increase with other signs and
symptoms and then make a collaborative decision about what diagnostic
studies were needed. Color US is the least invasive and very
effective for diagnosing vein thrombosis. Dye study may be required
if you suspect occlusion problems. So this is a case-by-case
