the Institute for Safe Medication Practices. This was also one of the
very first national patient safety goals from JCAHO but I think it has
been removed now. You should check the JCAHO website anyway though.
Rather than sending the vials of KCl, it would be far safer to send
the pre-mixed bags of fluids admixed by the manufacturer with KCl

Where can I find regs and codes that pertain specifically to regulating the dispensing KCL vials to LTC facilities? I know we may not include the vials of KCL in the e-kits which are placed in the facilities but where can I find documentation to support this? Does JCAHO and DHS have regs pertaining to distributing pre-mixed IV's with KCL versus sending them out separately?
