Title: Re: Infections
If there is a documented BSI and other sources have been ruled out, then it would be appropriate to call it PICC related. Most primary BSI is catheter related and if the catheter is a PICC then it is PICC related. Lynn

Do we have a national bench mark for PICC infections? I am having trouble with our infection control department and how they are reporting infections. The way they report it is if a patient has a BSI and they have a PICC line then it is "PICC related" They don't come out and say it is the PICC, just related.  What are other areas doing  about reporting of  PICC infections?
Thank you in advance.
