Hi Marla,

I have 2 reference articles relating to blood sampling from 3fr PICCs
Knue M, Doellman D, Rabin K, Jacobs RB. The efficacy and safety of blood sampling through peripherally inserted central catheter devices in children. J Intraven Nurs. 2005;28(1):30-35

Knue M, Doellman D, Jacobs BR. Peripherally inserted central catheters in children: a survey of practice patterns. J Intraven Nurs. 2006;29(1):28-33

I am trying to find evidence or literature that supports drawing blood from 3FR or 20G PICCs.  We commonly use this size in our pediatric patients.  Some of these patients require frequent blood draws and would benefit from drawing off PICC as opposed to multiple venipuncture.  I am trying to develop a policy or care plan for these patients.  I can only find literature that supports 4FR and larger.  Can anyone guide me towards reference material or share policy.
