Infusing stem cells is like infusing packed red blood cells. The long narrow lumen of a PICC does not easily allow for blood infusion without without a pump. Contact some major BMT transplant centers and ask. The real concern is how long can the stem cells hang. If they must be transfused over a relatively short period of time, you may not be able to do it with a PICC.

Are there any known contraindications for stem cell implantation using an inplace double lumen PICC? Is a pump needed to infuse? Thanks
