David,

I work with Boston Scientific, and I have trained a group of RTs to use
the iLook for ABGs. I have also worked with a group of cardiologists
who wanted to use ultrasound guidance to gain vascular access for
cardiac catheterizations on patients with pendulous abdomens.

Subject: "Alternative" Ultrasound uses

Is there anyone using an ultrasound for uses other than PICC's? I know
the
peripheral IV issue was recently discussed,but what about some others
such
as blood draws,ABG's and arterial lines? I have used our machine,in some

very unusual circumstances,to get both venous and arterial blood
samples. I
take an art. line class next month and have found a few references on
using
US for this.
David
