Last year we tried using the Ultrasound to visulize PICC's in the Jugular as a QI project.
I was very disappointed with the outcome. It was very difficult to see the PICC in the jugular even when we knew it was there. And this was also while working with the Ultrasound educator. I don't know if it was just a hugh learning curve, or just us.
But it eventually fell to the wayside.
I would like to try the Sherlock, but Bard won't cut any deals on the cost of the catheters. They won't even give us any just to try. Which most companies will let go of a few to try. I'm not going to purchase a hugh amount of expensive catheters and a device that I haven't laid hands on.
Oh' I also like to use the forceps.
