We have recently switched to flolink for our central lines, and
interlink for our peripherals.
Prior to the switch we used clave caps even for our peripherals, so the
switch to interlink has been hard for the staff because you need the
blunt cannula to access and the "alligator" clip. So if the staff is
used to a valve for peripherals the clear link is the way to go.
Education is a huge component when switching to the flolink, due to the
fact that priming it properly is a key issue. The staff here were not
priming properly which caused a lot of PICC's to lose the ability to
draw back.
Had Baxter come in and in service again and hopefully that will help
and I won't have to tPA so much.
